James would treat his patients with the help of the nurse and provide medicine for the follow up treatments. Usually, these teams would stay at a village for one or two days before moving to another village. The entire trip would last for two weeks. James found what he was looking for in this life and that is to help people wherever and whenever he could. Even in Abilene, he has helped Global Samaritan gather and ship supplies all over the world to people in need.

Abilene has always been a city where friendly, Christian citizens have reached out to people in need. James McCoy is just one who has gone beyond his own needs and has shared his talent and education so that others may improve their lives. The people in these underprivileged countries are so grateful that there are those who want to help. These church and medical teams do not ask for anything but to let them help whenever they can. In return, team members bring home a feeling of goodwill that will stay with them the rest of their lives.
