In need of a few Chinese Bibles for a class he was teaching, Yuan contacted Campus Crusade for Christ hoping they could help. Unexpectedly, they asked the young Christian to tell his story and invited him to a training conference. The couple attended and found themselves challenged. They learned the statistic that in America, 1 out of every 300 people is working to spread the good news of Christ. However, in China, that number is only 1 in every 300,000 people. The Yuans were stunned and moved by what God was calling them to do. It was after they joined Denton Bible Church that Dr. Yuan set in motion an evangelical career and lifestyle. After fnding much success with his teaching, he received the call to return
to China to teach the “underground” churches and believers. For years this man was searching for God, but now it seems that God had found a willing servant.
His return to China was not an easy adjustment. “I thought I knew China, but I did not anymore because I had changed and China had changed much more.” In China, Yuan was a different man - not the transparent person of today. To the public, he owned a consulting company, paid taxes, and lived a quiet lifestyle. In private, Yuan was consulting Christians on the fundamental word of God - a lifestyle that is anything but quiet in a Communist country.
