Howdy

Tarleton Texans!

Welcome to the second edition of Tarleton Alumni Association’s partnership with the Erath Living Magazine. In our efforts to com-municate with former and cur-rent Tarleton students, along with friends of our University, I believe this magazine provides a good avenue to deliver recent news and upcoming events of TAA. As you already know, Tarleton is a very special place comprised of outstanding students, faculty and administration. The memories gained while attending or being associated with Tarleton State are very precious and lifelong. Whether those memories are about a former classmate, professor, participating on a sports or aca-demic team, or just being goofy with a bunch of friends, TAA is a great organization to keep those memories alive and maybe make a few more. A few of the oppor-tunities that we provide are group reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and a central gathering place during the TSU Homecoming. During the 2010 Homecoming, we hosted reunions for the Class of 1960, Alpha Gamma Delta, TSU Plowboys and TSU Meats Team.

The 2011 Homecoming is already shaping up to have as many or more reunions.

Besides supporting the reunit-ing of the past, TAA also supports Tarleton through a number of scholarships and donations, like the Military Memorial and the rebuilding of the Honewell Band-stand. We also partner with TSU to recognize outstanding graduates at the Alumni Academic Forum, acknowledge outstanding faculty members with the O.A. Grant Ex-cellence in Teaching Award, and remember faculty, staff, students, and alumni who have passed away during the previous year at the Silver Taps Ceremony.

If you have a connection with Tarleton, whether or not you at-tended, we would love to have you part of our association in our ef-forts to support Tarleton and those that have walked through her gates. Our association is located across the street from Tarleton’s east gates at 343 McIlhaney and I invite you to stop by, visit, have a cup of coffee or soda and see what we are about.

- Todd W. Searcy, TAA President
