Elston said the group, which donates the bulk of its $15 show entry fees, has given about $2,000 annually for the last two years,

“We kind of look at it as being able to help save lives that aren’t born yet, and save lives of people who have gotten on the wrong path,” he said. The group likes to help out where they can, and have also partnered, in the past, with Erath Excels Academy in helping them raise money for their school. The Erath Excels Car Show takes place in March each year in the parking lot of Lone Star Lanes Bowling Alley.

Even as the men of Christian Classic Cruisers give of themselves, both Perez and Elston say they receive blessings from their efforts.

“I think a lot of it has been seeing our club grow,” Elston said. “As chaplain, I get to bring the Word at every meeting. Meetings are held on the frst Tuesday of each month at La Fiesta, and I always share some passages of scripture and have a devotion time.” “Those meetings and the time spent planning and in study have drawn the men closer,” he said.

“I’ve seen guys in the club who, maybe were a little stand-offsh, who would come up to me after a meeting and ask me to pray for them or share something that’s going on in their life,” said Elston. “It’s an opportunity to minister to them.”

Both men also say the greatest blessings come from being able to change lives through their club. “That’s been a huge blessing to me,” Elston said. “We have a banquet at the end of the year, and present the checks to our charities. That’s a huge blessing helping those people be able to do what Gods has put on their hearts to do.” “One day, we’ll receive our crowns in

glory,” Perez said, “so we don’t really look to get anything out of it right now. We just get people out in some of these towns around here, and meet people who are enthusiasts like we are.”

Christian Classic Cruisers’ next car show is scheduled for July 4 at the Stephenville City Park.  ECL
