« Previous Page Table of Contents Next Page »Having a job they love doesn’t change the reason they all play and sing. “It’s defnitely all about the music,” Scott said. “The money would be nice some day, but there’s chemistry in the band. You can’t get the feeling anywhere else. You’re in this zone. It’s indescribable. It’s a freedom through music.” Brother Dallas concurs with Scott’s assessment.
“I defnitely want to make a comfortable living,” Scott said frankly. “I don’t want to have to worry about money, but it’s not about the money with us. We have such a great group of guys, fans and people who are on our side. It’s the fans that are keeping us on the road. That’s what makes it worth doing,” he continued. “When you get applause at the end of a song or you see someone singing along with your music, that’s kind of the payoff.” Ben is more succinct. “I don’t want to do anything else,” he said simply.
So what’s in the future for the guys in the band? “We have more singles we want to release,” said Clayton, who is 30 hours short of a degree in business management. “We want to keep recording and pushing our music. We want to play all over Texas and all over the United States. We want to keep our noses to the grindstone and keep going as far as the path will let us go.”
Josh added that “being able to spread the gospel of rock and roll, hang out with my brothers, and see new places and faces” are something he looks forward to. “The smallest things have been stepping stones to where we are right now,” Clayton added. “It hasn’t been rushed. It hasn’t been crazy. It’s just seemed like the right things for each of us to be doing right now.” ECL
ABOVE Scott Neal, lead guitarist. The band started innocently enough as Clayton Landua and Scott Neal, who had known each other quite a while before each realized the other had musical aspirations, began to play together at informal gatherings before moving on to amateur events and competitions. “Me and Clayton kind of knew each other,” Scott, Dallas’s brother, said. “We started playing at some open mic nights and pickin’ parties. That’s how it all started. We won our frst pickin’ party. That’s where the name of the band came from.”
RIGHT Eager fans await autographs at the band’s CD Release Party.
