In the heart of downtown, hospitality, good food, and a healthy helping of sultry blues culminate to create one of the most unique experiences in San Angelo. For owners, Rod and Denise Bridgman, they have felt San Angelo’s love since they moved here by chance after deciding they needed a change from their retired life in South Padre.

Rod explained that he tired of coastal life, but Denise had not so he gave her the option of picking anywhere in Texas, and the rest is history.

“I told her to pick any place in Texas she wanted, so Denise pulled out a map, closed her eyes, and took blind aim. That’s how we found San Angelo. I felt like I ate my words because I sure didn’t want to move here, but we took a trip and I fell in love. This is home,” Rod reminisced.

During one of their frst trips to San Angelo, Denise and Ron passed by what is currently known as The Blues Inn at Sealy Flats and knew they had to have it. However, at the time, the dilapidated building was a handfull of years from falling down, far from the customized and unique ambiance the boutique hotel offers now. The Bridgman’s work was cut out for them, but they were ready for the challenge.

THESE PAGES Great food, great fun and great entertainment are just a few of the things to experience at this downtown location. Naturally, The Diner at Sealy Flats started with the support of local bands; however, the venue has now gained statewide and national attention. Local bands and musicians still frequent the stage, maintaining the local support of music, but bands from Austin regularly visit Sealy Flats. More recently, nationally known bands have begun contacting Sealy Flats for booking, only causing the caliber of music to positively increase and exposing San Angelo to new sounds.
