Dedra Mergele graduated in 1973 from what is now Abilene Christian University. She left with a degree in Speech Pathology, and went on to teach for 15 years in public schools in Texas, Alabama, and Idaho. For 21 years, she has worked as a State Farm agent, frst in Uvalde, then in San Angelo. Along the way, Dedra also realized her penchant for drama. While living in Uvalde, she produced and acted in seven productions at the Uvalde Grand Opera House. In San Angelo, she has written and directed three Murder Mysteries for dinner theatre. However, ask her which profession feels like her gift to the world, and she will most likely tell you the story of Babe Fables.
