Away From Home

You will feel like you’re stepping straight into the mid-20th century when you open the glass doors into the 5,000 square foot warehouse-style vintage refuge. The store has a range of items for sale including full dining sets, armoires, chairs, locally made jewelry, and a selection of great vintage clothing. FiFi’s encompasses a wide variety of desires and styles, and that’s just the way the co-owners, Toni Hunter and Phyllis “FiFi DuBois” Cox, like it.
For customer Brandon Whitford, most of his personal furniture came from FiFi’s store.
“This place is great! My wife and I have several pieces in our home that we probably wouldn’t have found anywhere else in San Angelo. So far, we’ve bought a couch, chair, dinning set, small tables, and a desk plus some other small items, and they’re a perfect complement to our style and personalities.”
Not only does FiFi DuBois sell furniture, but under special circumstances, she lends out items in the store for displays and photo shoots.
“FiFi let me borrow some of her movie theater inspired pieces for a business set up a while back which was incredibly generous. She’s great to work with and great to buy from,” Whitford explains.
During the day, FiFi DuBois is a vintage furniture store, but the retro abode also moonlights as a lounge. The idea to stay open later and eventually incorporate music into the scene began a year ago in May 2010.
