Angelo State University’s choir also had the opportunity to sing at the Hermitage. Graduate student, Zeth Collom, said, “The men were incredibly nice and inviting. They laughed that our concert was late for them because they usually go to bed around 9 p.m. and wake up at 3:30 a.m. But Father Fabian said they didn’t mind staying up because they were listening to the Lord’s music.” Brother John David explains that they support art, music, and other creative avenues. “We have a bigger vision than just the religious,” he explains. “We want to promote a well balanced life and keep alive culture.” Certainly, it seems the Mount Carmel Hermitage is doing just that, promoting culture, acceptance, and participation from their inconspicuous home tucked away in the raw Christoval landscape.  SAL
