with him. She got the woman’s address and told her she would mail the pictures as soon as she got them developed. I don’t know what the woman thought, but who would expect someone to remember a promise to a stranger? Within a short time, the pictures were in the woman’s mailbox.

Harry and Martha don’t know that they are different. They proudly tell me about their grandchildren. Harry has become “uptown or downtown with computers” out of necessity, according to Martha, so they can daily check their grandson’s blog from Costa Rica. They will not easily talk about the things they do but others talk about them freely. When the mother of one of our magazine staff was sick, Harry and Martha dropped by every few days with meals, a bouquet of fowers, or simply to ask how the day had been. They often took the sick mother chicken and dumplings simply because they knew she loved them so much. They know well the worth of compassion and kindness.
