Stephenville’s Christian Classic Cruisers was organized a few years ago to give area gear- heads a place for fellowship with other believers. Organization President Israel Perez had been involved in a car club prior to moving to Stephenville more than two decades ago. Still carrying a passion for cars, Perez thought the time might be right for a Cross Timbers based club.
“I was in a car club back in ’81, ’82,” said Perez, who is a machinist at FMC during the day. “I was actually in a bicycle club and went on into a car club. I still have the bike my brother and I built back in 1981,” he said. “When I turned 16, I got a car and became active in the car club. I love cars and motorcycles. It kind of riles me up a little bit. It doesn’t matter what kind of cars as long as they’re cool - the rat rods to hot rods to the classics. “
His hobby, as important to him as it was, took a back seat for a while. Not any more.
“I had gotten away from it,” he said bluntly. “Then about fve years ago I got to thinking, ‘Man, it would be cool to start up a car club again. ‘”
Perez was active in a church boy's ministry called Royal Rangers. Through that group he met other like-minded car guys who belonged to the Fort Worth Chapter of Christian Classic Cruisers.

It’s a ministry for local men of faith who also love cars. It’s a place where the smell of burning fuel mixes with a message of hope, and it’s an effort of conviction and love that gives to local charities.
