However, ASU students and alumni are especially impacted by the philanthropy, hospitality, and generosity of the Alumni Association. In addition to Ram Jams, the Alumni Association supports the ring ceremony, the commemorative coin and complementary memberships the students receive upon graduation, and some new alumni and their families even take their family photos in the LeGrand Center. Amanda Combs, a Fall 2010 graduate, explained, “The facility is great, and I’ve invested so much in ASU. I feel like, especially as an alumnus now, it’s only right that I have my most recent family portrait here.” In addition to the fun, and usually free, events the Alumni Association hosts, they also promote networking through fellow alumni. The purpose of the Alumni Association is to help alumni demonstrate their continuing school pride and maintain a connection to the ASU community. Hunter notes, “Numerous alumni still live in the San Angelo area as well as in the metroplex. We always invite alumni and students as well as recent graduates to reach out to one another. It’s all about the connection and giving back to the community.”
