Many chi ldren make multiple moves during the high school years alone, some even during their senior year. Students and parents face changes in academic standards, courses, access to programs, and graduation requirements. These frustrations, along with giving up friends and associates with whom a rapport has been establ ished, cause further anxiety. There are various organizations and agencies that can assist both parents and students with the unique education chal lenges facing mi l itary fami l ies.
One of those organizations is the Mi l itary Chi ld Education Coal ition. The Mi l itary Chi ld Education Coal ition is a nonprofit
worldwide organization that identifies the chal lenges facing the highly mobi le mi l itary chi ld, increases awareness of these chal lenges in mi l itary and educational communities and initiates and implements programs to meet the chal lenges. MCEC’s goal is to level the educational playing field for mi l itary chi ldren wherever they are located around the world and to serve as a model for al l highly mobi le chi ldren.
On the Move is the official magazine of the Mi l itary Chi ld Education Coal ition. It was this magazine that gave Sasha Caswel l national recognition for an assignment made by her Art Teacher, Ms. Linda Tuthi l l.
