The Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the Tattnall Community for its support and encouragement over the past year. The Chamber has experienced a 30% growth rate in a period that our country and state has experienced many economic woes and turmoil. How have we done it? The answer is simple. We have and will continue to work hard because we believe in the importance of a strong County Chamber for a united Tattnall County! We believe that a Chamber’s number one priority is to promote and support its business members. We do that in a number of ways including our very successful Business After Hours that are held monthly at a member business’s place of operation. Another important way we help not only our businesses but also our schools and civic organizations is our email program in which we have now amassed over 2,000 members. Companies have an opportunity to advertise their services or products online for the cost of a yearly membership. The community appreciates receiving a weekly Upcoming Events in Tattnall County as well as the obituaries from our county’s funeral homes. We maintain the county website at www.tattnall.com which has a business section that lists all businesses in the county as well as their website if they have one.

The Chamber sets on the board of various groups both in and out of the county including TriCREST, the Woodpecker Trail Association, Tattnall Adult Education Advisory Board, Tattnall Leadership, Magnolia Midlands Tourism Association and the Georgia Work Ready Workforce team; among others. We are very proud of establishing the frst ever Junior Board of Directors in Tattnall County, which began in 2007 and this year has 48 members from Tattnall County High School and Pinewood Christian Academy.

We are especially proud of the partnerships we have developed in Tattnall County. In addition to businesses, these partners include civic organizations, the faith community and the focus of our Annual Awards Banquet this year, the educational institutions in Tattnall County. We frmly believe the key to success in Tattnall County as well as our Chamber lies in these relationships. This year’s Annual Awards Banquet, held on March 3, 2011, was attended by

over 350 people and saluted the relationship that the Chamber has developed with the Tattnall County School System, Pinewood Christian Academy and Southeastern Technical College. The Keynote Speaker, Dr. Gina Williams, Tattnall County Superintendent of Schools, reminded the audience of a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” Dr. Williams added, “Our vision in the Tattnall County School System is to educate and nurture tomorrow’s leaders.”
